This guide walks you through unboxing, initial configuration, safe backup of your recovery phrase, and best security practices — written simply so you can copy or customize it for your own website or internal docs.
1

Unbox and inspect

Verify the package seals are intact and that there are no unexpected accessories. Only proceed when the packaging appears genuine and unopened.

2

Power up & connect

Connect the device to your computer using the supplied cable. Follow the on-screen prompts on the device to start the secure setup wizard.

3

Create your PIN

Choose a strong PIN you will remember. The device will confirm the PIN. This protects access to the device if it is lost or stolen.

4

Write down your recovery phrase

Your device will display a 12–24 word recovery phrase. Write it down exactly, in order, on a secure medium (metal backup or the supplied card). Never store the words digitally.

5

Confirm recovery phrase

The device will ask you to confirm a subset of words to ensure you backed it up correctly. Only proceed if you can confirm the exact words and order.

Detailed steps

1. Unboxing & authenticity checks

Inspect packaging for tamper-evident seals, factory stickers, and serial numbers. If something looks off, contact support rather than continuing. Factory seals intact and a clean, original-looking box are the norm for legitimate devices.

2. Connect and initialize

When first connected, the device will greet you and begin an initialization flow. Use the hardware buttons to navigate and confirm. You may be invited to download or use a companion app — always download from the official store.

3. Choose a PIN & protect it

Your PIN should be unique and memorable. Avoid obvious sequences or birthdates. If you forget the PIN, the only recovery path is via your recovery phrase.

4. Recording the recovery phrase

The recovery phrase is a failsafe to restore your assets to another device. Use non-digital means: paper in a secure safe, engraved metal plates, or specialized backups. Store copies separately to mitigate risk of fire or theft.

Security best practices

Protecting your assets

Security is multi-layered: physical device safety, secure backups of your recovery phrase, cautious online behavior, and using strong unique passwords for related services. Regularly update device firmware only through official channels. Beware of phishing sites and fake support accounts; double-check website URLs and certificate details when in doubt.

Additional recommendations

  • Separate small daily-use wallets from long-term cold storage.
  • Use a secure password manager for online accounts associated with trading or custodial services.
  • Consider a multisig setup for large holdings.
Support & recovery

Recover from seed

To restore from your recovery phrase, choose the "Recover" option during device initialization and enter the words when prompted, in order. Recovery should be performed privately; never type your seed on an internet-connected computer or send it in messages.

When something goes wrong

If you suspect tampering, stop using the device and contact official support channels. If you lose the recovery phrase and the device is inaccessible, funds are irrecoverable — that’s why safe backups are critical.
